About BDEG - British Dermatology Education Group (BDEG)

The British Dermatology Education Group was founded by senior Dermatology consultants from the UK as an independent platform to deliver Dermatology teaching and training at national and international levels.

We believe learning is the process of acquiring new knowledge, skills, behaviours and more through experience, practice, or exercise. It is an active process that can involve collaboration, receiving and using feedback, and asking productive questions.

Members of the British Dermatology Education Group have been hosting the SCE Revision Course annually each May/June since 2009. Initially this was a one-day course, packed with facts relevant to the SCE syllabus and exam.

However, feedback from delegates supported evolution to a 3-day course, with focus on learning through interactive questions. It is with great pride and humility that we have seen hundreds of successful and established consultant Dermatologists attend our course over those years as part of their career pathway.

In 2026 BDEG hosted an additional SCE Revision event on -line; an intensive one day course ; in response to oversubscription for the 3 day course.

BDEG’s exploration of an alternative to fully independent congress travel resulted in small self-funded group trip to the Spring EADV in Athens 2026. Facilitating a colleague group for interesting discussions, dining partners, sightseeing buddies, on site co-ordinator support etc. proved a popular format and 2027 will see more group congress travel options.

With a passion for education BDEG are continuing to develop new projects such as the recent Advanced PDT meeting in London and an upcoming hair and nails meeting in November 2026.

This autumn will see the launch of two participatory on-line hubs for SCE preparation and another for those involved in Dermatology Private Practice.

We will continue to look for opportunities to develop meaningful and useful education meetings and resources

I created and continue to co-host the annual national SCE directed learning course since 2009.

I regularly teach nurses and doctors regionally to improve Dermatology clinical practice in primary care. For many years I managed and nurtured local GPs with an interest in Dermatology, mentored non-consultant Dermatologists wishing to accredit as consultants through the CESR route and mentored nurses wishing to attain improved skills or higher qualifications.
